For over three decades, Piotr Lisowski has developed a distinct artistic language within the medium of glass, working primarily with the fusing technique, which he approaches as a field of painterly inquiry. In his practice, glass transcends its material constraints to become a site of subtle negotiation between light, color, and structure.
His works are characterized by a restrained formal vocabulary and a heightened sensitivity to material presence. Delicacy and precision coexist with a controlled yet expressive gesture, resulting in compositions that assert a quiet but undeniable spatial presence. Each piece is conceived as a singular object, where technical mastery converges with a rigorously developed visual language.
Lisowski’s studio, located in Złotokłos near Warsaw, serves as both a site of production and reflection. His works are held in private collections in Poland and internationally, and are frequently integrated into architecturally considered interiors, where they function as autonomous sculptural entities.
Artist Statement
Lisowski’s practice situates glass as a medium uniquely responsive to light and spatial context. Through the process of fusing, he constructs layered compositions in which material structure becomes inseparable from meaning.
His work unfolds through a disciplined engagement with process and material. Each object emerges from a careful orchestration of form and nuance, where minimal gestures generate complex perceptual effects. The resulting works maintain a state of quiet dynamism—shifting in response to light, movement, and the viewer’s position.
Positioned at the intersection of art and design, his objects operate both as independent artworks and as agents that transform spatial experience through light, color, and material depth.
